Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The French international joined Los Blancos from AS Monaco in 2022 and has since won both the Champions League and La Liga titles. While he’s played a significant role in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, reports suggest that Madrid’s hierarchy remain unconvinced about his long-term fit at the club.
Despite Tchouameni’s regular appearances, Real Madrid are said to be open to selling him—potentially accepting an offer of around €60 million, which is notably less than the £68 million they paid for him just two years ago.
Liverpool are believed to be among the clubs showing strong interest, with Fichajes claiming the Merseyside giants are prepared to meet Madrid’s asking price. However, they face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain, who are also monitoring the situation closely.
Tchouameni is primarily a defensive midfielder but offers versatility by being able to slot in at centre-back when required. Known for his strength, aerial presence, and defensive awareness, he could add grit and depth to Liverpool’s midfield.
Earlier this summer, the Reds had been targeting Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, a more technical deep-lying playmaker. But after he chose to stay in Spain, Liverpool’s search for midfield reinforcements remained unresolved. Wataru Endo was brought in but has barely featured under new manager Arne Slot so far.
While Tchouameni’s style leans more toward breaking up play than orchestrating it, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will push ahead with a formal bid—especially if he’s made available in the upcoming transfer window.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have booked their place in the EFL Cup quarter-finals after a thrilling 3–2 win over Brighton, setting up a clash with Southampton next month.
