Liverpool are reportedly in pole position to sign exciting PSV Eindhoven forward Johan Bakayoko, according to a report from Caught Offside. The 21-year-old Belgian international has attracted interest from several top European clubs following his impressive performances in the Eredivisie.
Bakayoko joined PSV’s youth setup from Anderlecht in 2019 and broke into the first team in 2022. Since then, he’s developed into a vital figure at Philips Stadion. Last season, he tallied 12 goals and 9 assists across 29 league starts—a breakout campaign that put him firmly on the radar of elite clubs.
Brentford nearly secured his signature last summer, but the winger turned down the move. Now, Liverpool have emerged as serious contenders, with the Reds looking to strengthen their attacking options—especially as uncertainty continues around Mohamed Salah’s future, with his contract set to expire next summer.
Bakayoko, a left-footed right winger, offers blistering pace, excellent dribbling in tight spaces, and a creative spark in the final third. This season, he’s already contributed nine goal involvements across all competitions, further proving his consistency and maturity at a young age.
PSV reportedly want to keep him through the January window but would be open to selling for a fee around £50 million. With Bakayoko entering the final year of his contract next summer, Liverpool could negotiate a lower fee if a new deal isn’t signed.
Other clubs like Bayern Munich, PSG, Dortmund, Newcastle, and RB Leipzig are also circling, but Liverpool are seen as financially well-positioned to win the race.
The coming months will be pivotal in determining whether Jürgen Klopp’s side can secure one of Belgium’s brightest attacking talents.
