A fierce transfer battle is heating up. Liverpool and Manchester United are locked in a race to sign RB Leipzig’s dynamic midfielder, Xavi Simons. German insider Christian Falk, via Caughtoffside, revealed both sides are “ready to go head‑to‑head” for the 21‑year‑old Dutch prodigy.

Simons lit up the Bundesliga during his loan last season—25 goal contributions in all competitions—prompting Leipzig to snatch him permanently in January for roughly £42 million, locking him in until 2027.

However, according to a recent report from Football365 citing Fabrizio Romano, the Dutch international has informed Leipzig that he’s ready to leave the club, and it’s understood that the Bundesliga side is demanding between €80–100 million (≈ £67–85 million).

Xavi Simons is a remarkably versatile footballer, primarily operating as an advanced playmaker in the No. 10 role, yet equally at ease drifting into wide positions, particularly on the left flank.

Thanks to his exceptional dribbling, vision, and low center of gravity, he can orchestrate play centrally—linking midfield to attack with incisive passes and intelligent movement between the lines—but he also excels when deployed out wide.

For Liverpool, manager Arne Slot is eyeing an upgrade in the creative midfield. He already has Szoboszlai and Jones, but Simons would inject urgency and flair into their engine room. Over at Old Trafford, new boss Ruben Amorim runs a 3‑4‑2‑1 formation that badly needs a reliable Number 10—especially with Mason Mount struggling for fitness.

This isn’t just about talent—it’s timing.

Drama. Urgency. Finance. This is more than a transfer—it’s a spectacle between two giants, both racing a ticking internal clock. Slot versus Amorim.

Szoboszlai’s defense of No.10 against Mount’s resurgence. Eventually, one of these clubs will dare the jump. And Simons? He might just become the spark that lights a new era
