Arsenal close to landing Mosquera

The Emirates is stirring.

What began as a quiet summer for Arsenal has shifted into a surge of activity. Fresh off sealing moves for Brentford’s Christian Nørgaard and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Mikel Arteta is now closing in on Valencia’s 20-year-old centre-back, Cristhian Mosquera, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Statistically the best U20 defender in Europe’s top five leagues last season, Mosquera is more than potential—he is proof in numbers. The most shots blocked, the highest ground duel success, the most possessions won. Arsenal’s interest is no surprise.

Talks are active, contact already made, and the Spain U21 international has given the green light. He sees the project, and he believes.

Andrea Berta, newly installed as sporting director, has been central to the push, driving conversations with targets and shaping a squad built for both now and tomorrow.

Mosquera, with only a year left on his Valencia contract, is a timely opportunity.

It’s a pattern—moves for talent with immediate impact and long-term growth. Myles Lewis-Skelly’s new five-year deal earlier this week underlined that philosophy. Mosquera fits it perfectly: young but seasoned, humble but fearless.

The Gunners’ defense, already formidable, could gain another layer of resilience. And in a league where inches separate contenders from champions, adding a defender who thrives on winning duels might be the quiet difference in the months ahead.

The window is still young, but Arsenal are moving fast.

If momentum is a weapon, they’re beginning to wield it.
