With Arsenal aiming to mount a serious challenge on all fronts next season, Arteta is planning multiple reinforcements across the pitch.

The departures of midfielders Thomas Partey and Jorginho—both out of contract at the end of the campaign—could leave significant gaps in midfield. However, one of Arteta’s main priorities remains the signing of a top striker.

Despite being heavily linked with several attackers last summer, Arsenal chose to rely on Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. Unfortunately, both have struggled with injuries this season, leaving the Gunners short of firepower at crucial moments.

As a result, Arsenal are poised to re-enter the market for a proven goalscorer.

Among a host of attacking options, including Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko, and Viktor Gyökeres, Matheus Cunha has emerged as a serious target.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown confirmed Arsenal’s concrete interest but questioned whether Cunha is the ideal profile for the number nine role.

“Matheus Cunha is definitely on their list and one they’re interested in, but is he the right profile?” Brown said. “He’s an all-rounder, he can come short to link the play, run at defenders, and operate between the lines.

But if Arteta wants a bigger, more traditional striker, Cunha might be better suited as a second forward.”

Cunha has been in impressive form for Wolves this season, showcasing his versatility and creativity. Though he prefers roaming rather than playing as a fixed No.9, his dynamic style of play could complement a more physical striker at the Emirates.

The 25-year-old is believed to have a £64 million release clause, and should Arsenal decide to activate it, he could become a key piece in Arteta’s evolving attacking puzzle.

Whether he’s brought in as the primary striker or to play in tandem with another forward will depend on Arsenal’s broader transfer strategy this summer.
