Arsenal may be flying high in the Champions League semi-finals, but their Premier League title hopes are set to fade once again, with Liverpool on the verge of being crowned champions.

One glaring reason for the Gunners’ shortfall is their lack of firepower — 14 goals fewer than the likely winners after 33 matches.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Mikel Arteta appears ready to address that problem head-on. According to Football Insider, Arsenal have opened talks to sign Sporting Lisbon’s prolific striker Viktor Gyökeres, who is valued at around £70 million.

The Swedish international has enjoyed a sensational season, racking up 47 goals and 11 assists across all competitions.

Sporting director Andrea Berta is said to be a huge admirer of Gyökeres, placing him ahead of other reported targets such as Benjamin Šeško and Victor Osimhen.

The 25-year-old’s blend of finishing ability, creativity, and physical presence makes him an ideal fit for Arteta’s system — and potentially the final piece in Arsenal’s quest for a Premier League title.

According to Tribuna, sporting boss Rui Borges has described Gyökeres as “phenomenal” but hinted that the forward’s future may lie away from Lisbon.

Having previously spent time on loan in England during his Brighton & Hove Albion days, the striker already has some familiarity with the demands of English football — something Arsenal will view as a major plus.

If the deal is completed swiftly, Arteta could have his marquee signing ready for pre-season, giving Arsenal their best chance yet of turning title contenders into champions.
