Arsenal are exploring options in the January transfer window as Mikel Arteta seeks to ease the burden caused by Bukayo Saka’s injury.

Reinforcements on the right wing have become a priority, though the Gunners are expected to keep their spending measured until the summer when bigger targets may become available.

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal are weighing up a move for Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao. Liverpool have also shown interest in the Brazilian, but they are not expected to pursue a deal this month. That leaves Arsenal in a strong position to complete a transfer worth around £30 million.

Signing a right winger has long been on Arteta’s agenda, and Saka’s injury has accelerated that need. Paixao has been outstanding for Feyenoord this season, contributing five goals and 12 assists across all competitions, according to Transfermarkt.

While the Eredivisie may not boast the intensity of the Premier League, many players from the Dutch top flight have adapted well in England. Paixao’s flair, creativity, and Brazilian technical quality make him a player Arteta could develop further at Arsenal.

Competition is likely, with Aston Villa, West Ham, and Tottenham Hotspur all keeping tabs on the 24-year-old. However, the opportunity for regular first-team football at the Emirates could tilt the scales in Arsenal’s favour.

Liverpool remain interested but are currently focused on securing Mohamed Salah’s long-term future.

With the market open, Arsenal may now have the chance to get ahead of their rivals and add Paixao to their attacking options.
