Arsenal ‘well advanced’ in Zubimendi deal

According to Spanish outlet AS, Arsenal are “very advanced” in securing Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad come summer.

Talks have been ongoing since January, and reports say the Gunners are preparing a €60 million (£50 million) offer to trigger his release clause.

The 26‑year‑old Spain international was heavily courted by Liverpool last summer, and Real Madrid remain interested. But Arsenal now appear poised to land him.

Zubimendi is a modern number six—composed on the ball, pressing-proof, and masterful at controlling tempo. He can comfortably slide into a number eight role too.

His game aligns perfectly with Mikel Arteta’s dominant, possession-based style.

His potential impact is immediate. With Jorginho expected to depart and Thomas Partey’s future uncertain, Zubimendi represents a clear upgrade: younger, sharper, and tactically tuned to Arsenal’s DNA.

This move completes a long build-up. Arsenal have chased him for over a year—former teammate Mikel Merino joined last summer, and the push intensified in January, culminating in advanced talks by March.

Zubimendi isn’t just a signing. He’s a statement. A signal that Arsenal are reshaping their midfield spine with intelligence and identity.

And for Zubimendi, this is purpose in motion. He rejected Liverpool last year, choosing instead to wait for the right move.

Arsenal provided it: a club with ambition, clear vision under Arteta, and room for evolution.

Now the deal nears completion. Arsenal are set to activate the clause, outpace Real Madrid interest.

Because in football, timing isn’t just everything—it’s rare.
