Celtic’s pre-season march gathered pace with another emphatic statement, a 4-0 dismantling of Newcastle United at Celtic Park that delivered the Adidas Trophy and a second piece of silverware in as many weeks.

Brendan Rodgers’ men were sharp, hungry, and ruthless against their Premier League visitors. Goals came from Arne Engels, Johnny Kenny, Hyun-jun Yang, and Liam Scales, each moment greeted with roars from a crowd that sensed their team’s rhythm returning.

The early exchanges were balanced, but Celtic’s press soon tilted the match. Kenny harried Newcastle’s backline while Daizen Maeda forced errors from Kieran Trippier. When Engels was bundled over by Joe Willock, he dusted himself off and tucked away the penalty to break the deadlock.

On the stroke of half-time, Celtic struck again. Kasper Schmeichel launched long, Nick Pope hesitated, and Kenny capitalised—nipping in to head into an empty net.

The tempo stayed high after the interval. Maeda’s tireless running was rewarded as he set up Yang for a clean finish to make it three.

Then came a fairytale return. Kieran Tierney, back in Celtic colors, was given a rousing ovation before delivering a trademark cross that Scales thundered home for the fourth.

Rodgers rotated heavily on the hour, with Paulo Bernardo and Benjamin Nygren among those impressing. Adam Idah’s link-up play earned a dangerous free-kick, while Viljami Sinisalo preserved the clean sheet with a sharp late stop.

Two friendlies, two trophies—momentum is building. Against Ajax in Como, Celtic will look to carry this energy into the final stretch of their preparations.
