Chelsea are set for another ambitious summer under Enzo Maresca, with Todd Boehly ready to back the manager in the transfer market as the Blues aim to challenge for silverware next season. Strengthening key positions remains a priority, and left-back is firmly on the radar.
According to TBR Football (via 90min), Chelsea are competing with Tottenham Hotspur for AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez. The 27-year-old, valued at £87m last summer according to getfootballnewsitaly, could be available for just £30m this year as he enters the final 12 months of his contract at San Siro.
A Champions League winner with Real Madrid, Hernandez has developed into one of the world’s top left-backs and can also operate as a central defender or holding midfielder.
His pace, strength, and attacking threat make him a significant upgrade on Marc Cucurella, despite the Spaniard’s solid performances this season.
Chelsea may hold the advantage over Spurs in the race, with Hernandez reportedly prioritising Champions League football—a competition the Blues are on track to reach. Tottenham, meanwhile, must win the Europa League to secure a place in Europe’s top competition next season.
Bayern Munich and other European giants have also shown interest, but a Premier League move could present Hernandez with a fresh challenge in the prime of his career.
