Chelsea eye Harvey Elliott amid Dortmund interest

Chelsea’s rebuild under Enzo Maresca has begun with Liam Delap’s arrival, but further signings are on pause during their Club World Cup campaign.

Talks with Borussia Dortmund over Jamie Gittens continue, yet in a recent report by  Caught Offside, another name has quietly entered the frame—Harvey Elliott.

Liverpool’s 22-year-old midfielder, valued at around £50 million, has drawn interest from Aston Villa, Brighton, Newcastle, Dortmund, and now Chelsea according to the report.

Elliott contributed five goals and three assists in just 822 minutes last season, often used as an impact substitute under Arne Slot.

But with Florian Wirtz’s arrival, regular minutes at Anfield may remain scarce.

For Chelsea, Elliott represents something they have lacked—creativity from midfield. Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez have carried the creative load, while wingers have underperformed.

Elliott’s passing range, vision, and ability to unlock defences could allow Palmer to push higher and Fernandez to control deeper areas without compromising structure.

Yet the question remains—would he start regularly? Chelsea’s attacking targets may crowd the path to consistent minutes, and this is where Dortmund’s interest sharpens.

If Gittens departs, the Bundesliga side could offer Elliott time both in midfield and wide positions, plus Champions League football.

Dortmund have long been a springboard for young talents seeking the next step.

Chelsea’s Premier League stage has its appeal, but the choice between sporadic brilliance in London and sustained growth in Germany may define his next move.
