Chelsea line up January move for Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán

According to the Telegraph, Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán as they look to strengthen their attacking options during the January transfer window.

With inconsistency in front of goal proving to be a recurring issue this season, the Blues are eager to find fresh firepower to support their push for European qualification.

Durán, a young Colombian forward, has caught Chelsea’s attention despite being largely used as a substitute at Villa Park. Although Ollie Watkins remains the first-choice striker for Aston Villa, Durán has shown flashes of brilliance when given the opportunity.

His raw talent, pace, and sharp movement in the final third have impressed scouts, and Chelsea believe he has the potential to flourish with more regular playing time.

Chelsea have reportedly made initial contact with Durán’s representatives to explore the feasibility of a deal. However, Aston Villa are understood to be demanding a significant fee, possibly as high as £14.75m.

While that figure may prove a stumbling block, sources close to the situation suggest Villa could be open to negotiating under the right terms.

With Nicolas Jackson struggling to deliver consistent performances and Christopher Nkunku still being eased into the squad, Chelsea’s need for another reliable attacking option is clear. Marc Guiu, a young addition to the squad, is yet to make a significant impact.

Durán’s age, potential, and style of play make him a desirable target for Chelsea, who are aiming to build a more dynamic and versatile front line. A deal before the deadline remains possible if both clubs can find common ground.
