Chelsea have struck a deal to bring Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens to Stamford Bridge, with the England U21 star set to join on a long-term contract until 2032.
The Blues have been reshaping their attack this summer, securing Liam Delap for the centre-forward role and now turning their focus to the flanks.
Bynoe-Gittens, who came through Manchester City’s academy before moving to Germany, has been a prime target for weeks. Fabrice Hawkins reports that an agreement has been reached, while Fabrizio Romano confirms the 20-year-old will undergo his medical shortly.
Dortmund initially rebuffed Chelsea’s £45m offer before the Club World Cup window closed, but the London side returned with an improved £55m bid that was accepted. The move echoes Jadon Sancho’s path—City to Dortmund to England—and Bynoe-Gittens could now be tasked with filling a similar creative void at Chelsea.
Though his minutes were limited late last season, his impact was undeniable. He scored eight goals and registered 53 shots—second only to Serhou Guirassy in both categories. He also ranked just behind Guirassy in duels won, with 242 to the striker’s 264.
What sets Bynoe-Gittens apart is his one-on-one explosiveness. His 77 successful dribbles were bettered only by Florian Wirtz in the Bundesliga, placing him in the 99th percentile across Europe’s elite.
His arrival adds fierce competition for the left-wing spot, where Noni Madueke, Pedro Neto, and Tyrique George are already vying for minutes.
Whether Maresca makes him the first choice or an impact option, Chelsea’s wing play is about to get sharper and far more unpredictable.
