Chelsea weigh player swap to land Morgan Rogers

Chelsea’s summer rebuild could be about to take another twist. After reinforcing their attack with two strikers and a left winger, attention has now turned to securing a creative midfielder capable of operating behind the front line.

Enzo Maresca’s plan involves pushing Cole Palmer into a more advanced role on the right, leaving space for a natural No. 10. Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers has emerged as the prime candidate, and Chelsea are ready to tempt Villa with a swap arrangement.

According to TBR Football, Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Trevoh Chalobah are among the defenders Chelsea could offer, though Unai Emery’s eyes are said to be on forward Nicolas Jackson.

Rogers’ value was pegged near £80 million earlier this year, but Villa’s need to comply with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules could force their hand.

Rogers lit up last season with 14 goals and 15 assists across all competitions, his versatility making him one of Villa’s most valuable assets. While Villa’s defensive depth means they could afford to part with a centre-back, they may still prefer cash unless Jackson enters the equation.

The Senegalese striker’s future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain following new attacking arrivals. A reunion with Emery, who managed Jackson at Villarreal, could prove more appealing.

If Chelsea sweeten the deal with cash alongside Jackson, Villa could gain both financial relief and a forward familiar with the manager’s system.

For Chelsea, landing Rogers would complete a reshaped attack built to chase silverware.

The pieces are in place—now it’s about finding the right trade.
