With Arne Slot enjoying a sensational debut season at Anfield—potentially clinching the Premier League title in his first attempt—Liverpool’s project is shifting toward long-term dominance.

While Slot didn’t oversee a major overhaul last summer, he’s now preparing for a significant squad evolution to compete on all fronts next season.

Top of that list? Reinforcements across the spine of the team. A new striker, a centre-back to eventually succeed Virgil van Dijk, and quality fullbacks are on the radar.

But perhaps most urgently, Liverpool are prioritizing a midfield addition after missing out on Martin Zubimendi last summer, who chose to remain at Real Sociedad.

That midfield target now appears to be Hugo Larsson—and Liverpool have already opened talks with the player’s camp.

The 20-year-old Swedish international, under contract until 2029, is valued at £50 million by Frankfurt, who reportedly expect him to move on this summer.

But Liverpool won’t have it easy.

Arsenal are also in the hunt. Determined to finally lift the Premier League title under Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have reached out to Larsson’s representatives as they assess options to upgrade their midfield for a serious title run next season.

The plot thickens further: Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Tottenham Hotspur have all registered interest, impressed by Larsson’s performances this season.

The youngster has been a consistent presence for Frankfurt, helping to propel their charge toward Champions League qualification.
