Liverpool’s dominance this season has been clear, with Arne Slot’s side leading the Premier League and cruising through the Champions League group stage.
Yet, despite their success, much of the attacking burden has fallen on Mohamed Salah, while Cody Gakpo has chipped in sporadically.
Darwin Núñez has struggled to find consistency, managing just four goals in 24 appearances across all competitions. His recent omission from the starting XI has raised doubts about his long-term future at Anfield.
According to Anfield Watch (via Football Transfers), Liverpool have entered the race for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, a player they “greatly admire.” The Nigerian forward, currently on loan at Galatasaray, could become a marquee summer signing once his spell in Turkey ends.
Manchester United are also chasing Osimhen and could even offer Marcus Rashford in a swap deal. However, questions remain over their ability to meet his £62 million release clause or his Champions League ambitions.
Liverpool, by contrast, are in a far stronger position. The Reds are financially capable of triggering Osimhen’s clause and covering his wages, especially if Salah departs at the end of the season.
For Osimhen, joining a side in peak form and fighting for major honours would represent the ideal move.
While Arsenal and Chelsea may yet test the waters, Liverpool look the most realistic destination for the prolific Nigerian striker.
