Liverpool are reportedly preparing to rival Chelsea in the race for Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Arne Slot’s side currently lead the Premier League table after edging past Brentford, with Darwin Núñez’s late brace helping the Reds extend their advantage over Arsenal. With 50 points from 21 games, Liverpool remain firm favourites to secure the title this season.

While their domestic campaign looks promising, the Merseyside club are also looking to strengthen in the January transfer window.

Romano revealed that Liverpool are scouting Bynoe-Gittens as they search for a new left-sided forward to bolster their attacking options.

Chelsea have already made a formal enquiry for the 20-year-old winger, who has impressed in the Bundesliga this season with 11 goals and five assists in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Dortmund, however, are reluctant to sanction a sale mid-season, though history suggests they could be tempted if their valuation is met.

Liverpool already boast Luis Díaz and Cody Gakpo in the same position, meaning any potential move could hinge on one of them departing. Still, Bynoe-Gittens’ talent and growth have made him one of the most sought-after young forwards in Europe.
