Liverpool in advanced talks for Palace star Guehi

Liverpool have stepped up their pursuit of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, with discussions over a summer move said to be progressing well.

Since arriving at Selhurst Park in 2021, Guehi has been a pillar of consistency, earning his place as a mainstay in the England setup.

Last term, the 24-year-old featured in 34 league matches and made 44 appearances in all competitions, captaining Palace to an unforgettable FA Cup triumph over Manchester City.

Transfer insider Nicolò Schira reports that Liverpool have held productive talks with Guehi’s representatives, with the former Chelsea youth product giving the green light to a five-year contract at Anfield. With his Palace deal expiring next summer and no extension in sight, the Reds are now aiming to strike a deal with the South London club. His current valuation sits around £38 million.

Liverpool dominated the Premier League last season, leading in wins, goals scored, and ranking second for goals conceded, sealing their 20th league title and second of the modern era.

Arne Slot’s side are determined to strengthen rather than stand still. Milos Kerkez has already arrived from Bournemouth, while Jeremie Frimpong and British-record signing Florian Wirtz have joined from Bayer Leverkusen.

Centre-back depth remains a priority, especially with Ibrahima Konaté’s contract talks stalling amid foreign interest. Guehi’s profile—calm under pressure, tactically disciplined, and battle-tested in the Premier League—fits the bill.

With personal terms close to being agreed, the next step is for Liverpool and Palace to settle on a fee.

If successful, the deal would further solidify the champions’ backline heading into another title defense.
