Andy Robertson looks set to continue his journey at Liverpool, with the club preparing to offer him fresh terms amid speculation over his long-term future.

According to Givemesports, citing Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, the Reds are actively “exploring a new contract” for the left-back, whose deal runs out next summer. The Scot was the subject of transfer rumors during the recent window, particularly following the signing of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

So far, Kerkez has struggled to cement his place in Arne Slot’s lineup, leaving Robertson still heavily involved. He featured in Liverpool’s Champions League win over Atletico Madrid but was rested for the Merseyside derby triumph against Everton just days later.

Liverpool’s board is eager to avoid the risk of losing a key player for free at the end of the season, especially with Atletico Madrid having shown interest earlier in the year. Robertson, now 31, has been at Anfield for eight years, becoming a vital figure both on and off the pitch. He has collected every major honor with the club and remains the vice-captain behind Virgil van Dijk.

Club insiders believe Robertson still has plenty to contribute despite facing competition from Kerkez. O’Rourke summed up the situation:

“I think Liverpool will be hoping to keep hold of Andy Robertson with a new deal being explored and, look, he’s back in the team right now…so let’s see if Robertson gets a run in the team now with Kerkez taken out of the firing line after a difficult start to his life at Anfield.”

Robertson currently earns a reported £200,000 per week and admitted in June that early talks over his future had taken place without a clear resolution. With his contract running down, Liverpool may need to act quickly — from January, the Scotland captain would be free to negotiate with overseas clubs if no extension is signed.
