Liverpool are actively exploring options in the transfer market as they assess the future of their right-back position. With Trent Alexander-Arnold being strongly linked to a move to Real Madrid next summer—and with less than a year remaining on his contract—the Reds risk losing a key player on a free transfer.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has caught Liverpool’s attention as a potential replacement. The Moroccan international is reportedly being considered, though any concrete move is expected to depend on whether Alexander-Arnold stays or departs.

Hakimi, who will also be entering the final year of his PSG contract next summer, is drawing interest from other top clubs, including Manchester City and Real Madrid. While Transfermarkt currently values the 25-year-old at around £50 million, his expiring deal could allow suitors to negotiate a reduced fee.

From a tactical perspective, Hakimi appears to be an ideal fit for Liverpool. Like Alexander-Arnold, he thrives in attacking roles and contributes significantly going forward—making him a natural successor. Both players are the same age, and Hakimi’s pedigree includes stints at top clubs like Real Madrid, where Alexander-Arnold could potentially land.

Liverpool might also find themselves in a favourable position during negotiations. Real Madrid is unlikely to engage in talks with PSG due to lingering tensions from the Kylian Mbappe transfer saga. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola may opt for a more defensively-minded player as Manchester City plan for life after Kyle Walker.

Additionally, Hakimi could be open to a move to Anfield. PSG’s project has lost some of its shine with the departure of several high-profile stars, which could influence his decision. And with the French club wary of losing another valuable player on a free—especially after the Mbappe situation—Liverpool may be able to strike a good deal in the upcoming window.
