Liverpool have been presented with an opportunity to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Beraldo, a player also admired by Manchester United.

With Jarell Quansah gone, the Reds’ defensive depth has thinned. Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate remain the trusted partnership, but Joe Gomez is the lone backup—and his injury history offers little security.

Konate’s contract runs out next summer, and rumours of Real Madrid interest persist. Van Dijk, still a leader, will be 35 next year. A fresh, long-term option is becoming a necessity.

Marc Guehi is one target, but transfer journalist Graeme Bailey reports that Beraldo’s representatives have approached Liverpool directly.

The 21-year-old could leave PSG as Luis Enrique reshapes his squad, with Ilya Zabarnyi identified as the French club’s preferred replacement.

Bournemouth have entered the conversation, holding talks with PSG over a potential deal. Manchester United, meanwhile, are also considering a move for the former São Paulo man.

Beraldo offers a left-footed option at centre-back, capable of stepping into Van Dijk’s role in future. Comfortable on the ball and calm under pressure, he fits Liverpool’s possession style.

Last season, he featured regularly in Ligue 1, primarily covering for Marquinhos and Willian Pacho. His biggest stage came at the Club World Cup, starting the semi-final and final due to Pacho’s suspension.

For now, the decision rests with Liverpool’s hierarchy: seize the chance to secure a potential heir to Van Dijk, or wait for a safer bet in the market.
