Liverpool weigh up summer move for Real Madrid’s Arda Güler amid midfield revamp

Liverpool are preparing for a significant summer overhaul, with several senior players expected to leave and a youthful rebuild on the cards.

As part of their plans to inject creativity into midfield, the Reds have reportedly identified Real Madrid’s Arda Güler as a potential signing, according to Caught Offside.

Güler, who arrived at Madrid from Fenerbahce in 2023, endured a slow start to life at the Bernabeu due to fitness issues. However, he showcased his talent in the latter part of a season that saw Real lift both the Champions League and La Liga titles.

While Madrid remain confident in Güler’s long-term potential, reports suggest they would be open to selling him for around £67 million if the player decides to move on.

Touted as one of the brightest talents of his generation, Güler turned down Barcelona to join Real Madrid, underlining the high expectations placed on him.

Yet, his time in Spain has been marred by recurring injuries and inconsistent form, preventing him from making a sustained impact.

With Liverpool needing to invest wisely during a summer of transition, splashing £67 million on a player with an uncertain injury record could be a risky move.

Nonetheless, Güler’s raw ability and potential remain enticing, especially given his creative flair and technical skill.

Arsenal and Aston Villa have also been linked with the midfielder, who was labelled “exceptional” by Fenerbahce manager José Mourinho.

While his move to the Premier League would undoubtedly attract attention, it remains to be seen whether any club will meet Madrid’s valuation for a player still finding his footing at the elite level.
