Manchester United have initiated contact over a possible move for Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolini, according to reports from Italy.
The 28-year-old winger enjoyed one of his best seasons to date, netting 17 times and providing two assists across Serie A and the Coppa Italia. His influence proved decisive as Bologna claimed the Coppa Italia—their first major trophy in more than 50 years.
Orsolini’s reputation as a big-game player grew after scoring against Inter, Milan, Lazio, and Roma. His strike against Inter ended their title hopes, a moment that cemented his status among Bologna supporters.
Unsurprisingly, such performances have drawn attention from top clubs, with Roma registering interest and FC Porto monitoring his situation.
United’s enquiry places them in the mix, though Bologna are determined to keep him. The Rossoblu are prepared to offer a new deal running until 2029, extending his current contract which expires in 2027.
Several of their stars, including Dan Ndoye and Jhon Lucumi, have also attracted outside interest.
Ruben Amorim has already invested around £127m in attackers Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo as part of a sweeping rebuild. The club’s pursuit of another wide forward comes as a surprise, especially amid reports of financial strain following their failure to qualify for European competition.
United still plan further reinforcements—a Premier League-proven striker, a new goalkeeper, and an athletic midfielder are on the agenda.
Whether Orsolini ultimately becomes part of that vision remains to be seen.
For now, interest is real, the call has been made, and the decision rests with Bologna’s resolve to keep their talisman.
