Manchester United are preparing a January move for FC Porto’s attacking duo Samu Aghehowa and Rodrigo Mora, according to CaughtOffside.
The Red Devils have endured a frustrating campaign in front of goal, scoring just 21 times in 19 league matches — a tally better only than Everton, Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town, and Southampton. Despite heavy investment last summer, United remain short of firepower and are now exploring fresh attacking options.
Scouts from Old Trafford have been closely monitoring 18-goal forward Aghehowa and 17-year-old sensation Mora, who has contributed six goals in just seven Primeira Liga appearances this season. Porto value Mora at around £55m, while Aghehowa’s contract reportedly contains an £82m release clause.
However, United’s spending power is restricted by the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, meaning any big-money moves will require careful planning.
In addition to attacking targets, United are also seeking to strengthen at left wing-back. Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes have emerged as potential candidates.
Following a poor run of results and the sacking of Erik ten Hag, new manager Ruben Amorim has seen mixed fortunes — with notable wins over Everton and Manchester City offset by three consecutive league defeats without scoring. The recent struggles of Joshua Zirkzee have further highlighted the need for more clinical options in attack.
With Aghehowa offering proven goal-scoring pedigree and Mora representing one of Europe’s brightest young talents, United’s double swoop could be key to reigniting their season and laying foundations for the future.
