United have endured a frustrating season in attack, ranking among the lowest-scoring sides in the Premier League.

Amorim is expected to prioritise strengthening the frontline ahead of next season, and a return to his former club Sporting could be part of the plan.

While Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha is believed to be the manager’s primary target, a move for Trincao could be explored if a Cunha deal fails to materialise.

Cunha has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this term, recording 15 goals and four assists in 29 appearances for Wolves. Beyond his numbers, the Brazilian has

impressed with his tireless work rate, high pressing, and exceptional dribbling in the final third — attributes that would make him an ideal fit for the number 10 role at Old Trafford.

However, the 25-year-old’s contract includes a £64 million release clause, and reports suggest Liverpool may hold the advantage in the race for his signature.

If United miss out on Cunha, Amorim could look to Trincao as a more attainable alternative, potentially reuniting with the Portuguese winger he coached during his successful spell at Sporting.
