Manchester United eye Victor Osimhen as top summer transfer target

Manchester United’s struggles in front of goal continued over the weekend, as they were held to a goalless draw by Manchester City in Sunday’s derby at Old Trafford.

The result leaves them 13th in the Premier League after 31 games, with just two wins in their last five league matches and a modest tally of only 37 goals scored this season.

With both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund misfiring, United are prioritising the addition of a proven striker in the upcoming transfer window.

According to TEAMtalk, Napoli star Victor Osimhen has emerged as their number one target for the summer.

The Nigerian forward, who enjoyed a prolific loan spell at Galatasaray with 28 goals and five assists, is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League, according to transfer Market.

Napoli are eager to keep the 25-year-old but value him at around £64 million—an amount considered affordable for United.

United, could also still secure European football by winning the Europa League—something that would strengthen their case.

A swap deal involving Garnacho or Højlund could prove attractive for Napoli, allowing United to offload underperforming players and free up wages for Osimhen’s salary demands.

Manager Ruben Amorim has also stressed the need for bringing in top-quality, proven players rather than untested prospects, making the Nigerian a perfect fit for his plans.

The club will be eager to finalise any deal quickly, ensuring Osimhen can join in time for pre-season preparations.

If successful, this could be the marquee signing that reignites United’s attack next season.
