Manchester United have shown strong interest in signing Rayan Cherki, one of Lyon’s standout performers this season, according to TBR Football.
The Red Devils’ disappointing Premier League form continued with a 13th defeat of the season, this time at the hands of Nottingham Forest, where their wastefulness in front of goal again proved costly.
As United look to inject more creativity and spark into their attack, Cherki has emerged as a priority target. The 21-year-old French playmaker has enjoyed a breakout season, contributing 8 goals and 18 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions. His form has not gone unnoticed.
Per TBR Football, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the highly-rated midfielder, whose contract runs until 2026. Lyon are reportedly open to letting him go for a fee around £25 million.
Last summer, Fulham were linked with the youngster, but Cherki reportedly dismissed the move in favor of continuing his development in France. Now, with no progress on a contract extension, a summer exit looks highly likely.
Manchester United have struggled with creativity in the final third, relying heavily on Bruno Fernandes to drive playmaking duties. The supporting cast—Garnacho, Zirkzee, and Højlund—have shown flashes of brilliance but remain inconsistent.
At £25 million, Cherki represents a low-risk, high-upside investment. But signing him won’t be straightforward—United will have to compete with clubs currently offering Champions League football, such as Arsenal or Liverpool.
Still, the Red Devils are expected to make a firm push for the Frenchman in the upcoming transfer window.
