Ange Postecoglou linked with Celtic comeback

As Brendan Rodgers approaches the final year of his contract, uncertainty is beginning to cloud his future at Celtic Park. Reports suggest that a familiar name from the Premier League could soon be in the frame to replace him.

Mounting Pressure in Glasgow

The managerial spotlight in Scotland has been burning bright lately. While Rangers have settled on Danny Rohl as their new boss, Celtic find themselves facing growing doubts over Rodgers’ tenure.

A disappointing defeat to Dundee at the weekend has only intensified scrutiny. The Bhoys now sit five points adrift of surprise leaders Hearts, sparking renewed questions about Rodgers’ ability to turn things around.

Among those weighing in is former Motherwell forward Don Goodman, who believes tension between the club’s hierarchy and supporters could make it difficult for Celtic to keep their manager:

“I’ve been hearing about the protests, the fan protests to the board over the lack of ambition. That is always gonna set alarm bells ringing. I mean, if the fans think that, then even if Brendan Rodgers won’t publicly say it, he must be feeling it and thinking it.

“It’s a club whose fans and manager want to be competitive in Champions League football. That doesn’t mean winning the Champions League, but in this new format, they want to be competitive. They will get lots and lots of glamorous ties against glamorous clubs, and that’s what the Celtic fans want, that’s what Brendan Rodgers wants.”

If Celtic fail to demonstrate ambition at the European level, Goodman warns, they risk losing Rodgers for a second time.

Ange Postecoglou Linked with Celtic Comeback

According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Ange Postecoglou could be open to returning to Celtic at the end of the season if the managerial position becomes available.

Such a move would be steeped in irony — Rodgers replaced Postecoglou in 2023, and now the Australian could be preparing to step back into his old role just two years later.

Postecoglou’s time in England has been turbulent. After winning the Europa League with Tottenham Hotspur, his spell unraveled when the club slumped to a 17th-place Premier League finish, leading to his dismissal. A brief 39-day stint at Nottingham Forest further damaged his reputation.

Returning to Celtic — where he once lost only 18 matches and was hailed as “brilliant” by Paul Lambert — could offer the perfect stage for redemption.

Two Managers, One Crossroads

For Rodgers, the pressure is mounting. For Postecoglou, a second chance at success may be just around the corner.

Both men find themselves at pivotal moments in their careers, and Celtic’s next move could define the direction of the club for years to come.
