Champions league night: Slot could make 2 changes against PSG

Liverpool arrive in Paris, fresh from a week’s rest thanks to their FA Cup exit. Tonight, they face PSG at the Parc des Princes in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg (kick‑off 20:00 UK time). Slot holds his cards close.

Only two changes from the Newcastle win. Alisson continues in goal. The back four remains unchanged except Andy Robertson returns at left-back, replacing Kostas Tsimikas. Trent Alexander‑Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté hold firm in defense.

Midfield sees Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch in the double pivot—steady, structured, secure. Dominik Szoboszlai takes the No. 10 role; his form provides the creative spark under Slot’s system.

Up front, Mohamed Salah starts on the right. And here comes change number two: Cody Gakpo is fit and set to start on the left, replacing Diogo Jota.

After missing previous matches due to a knock, Gakpo has trained and is available—Slot trusts his finishing edge as Liverpool chase a foothold in Paris. Jota shifts to the bench, Darwin Núñez also out of the starting eleven.

The formation reads 4‑2‑3‑1: Alisson; Alexander‑Arnold, Konaté, van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Szoboszlai; Salah, Gakpo; Jota. It’s familiar. It’s tight. It’s incisive.

PSG are no pushovers—they thrashed Brest 10‑0 on aggregate to reach this round. But Liverpool’s league form makes them favourites.

This isn’t about flaring fireworks. It’s about control. Urgency held in check. Arsenal may chase a blockbuster, but this is posture. Precision. Purpose.

The choices made—Robertson’s recall. Gakpo’s return. Two tweaks. One Liverpool.
