Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is reportedly eager to bring Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri to Old Trafford, according to Caught Offside.
United parted ways with Erik ten Hag earlier this season after a poor start, despite the Dutchman delivering back-to-back domestic cup triumphs.
Amorim has since stepped in, but performances have yet to improve, with the Red Devils still languishing in the bottom half of the table.
A key issue for United has been the left-wing-back position. Luke Shaw’s recurring fitness problems and Tyrell Malacia’s struggles following a long-term injury have left the team short of reliable options.
Amorim has often turned to Diogo Dalot on the left, but the Portuguese full-back is naturally a right-sided player and has looked uncomfortable in the role.
Reports suggest United are ready to offload Malacia, with Juventus already making enquiries. In response, Amorim has identified Ait-Nouri as his top target to strengthen the position.
Valued at around £30m as per Transfermarkt, the Algerian has been one of Wolves’ standout performers this season, contributing eight goal involvements in 20 league appearances.
Known for his pace, dribbling, incisive passing, and delivery from wide areas, the 23-year-old offers both defensive solidity and attacking threat.
While Wolves are unlikely to sell mid-season, their relegation battle could force them into a cut-price sale next summer if they drop to the Championship.
If United manage to land Ait-Nouri, it would represent a major coup for Amorim as he begins his rebuild at Old Trafford.
